Mongolian National Public Radio and Television (MNB) INTRODUCTION

Mongolian National Broadcaster (MNB) is the Mongolian National Public Radio and Television - a non-profit media organization representing the public interest.

The MNB's mission.

The mission of MNB is to provide national broadcasting services while serving the public interest by creating a variety of educational, entertaining, and informational programs and content for viewers and listeners.

MNB History:

The first groundwork for the creation of Mongolian National Radio was laid in 1930 when the Mongolian Radio cooperative was founded with funding from the nation's government, public organizations, and citizens.

Mongolian radio started transmitting in Ulaanbaatar, the nation's capital, a year later, in 1931, and nationwide in 1934. It marked the start of the current MNB's development.

On September 27, 1967, Mongolian Television aired its first program. In 1981, the MNB started airing its programs in color.

For the first time, MNB was able to transmit its programs via the AsiaSat system in 1991. This allowed the organization to reach the most remote areas of Mongolia and even transmit its content overseas.

The Mongolian National Broadcaster began international cooperation in January 1997 when it was elected as a full member of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).

The Public Radio and Television Law was approved in February 2005, leading to a reorganization of the Mongolian National Broadcaster (MNB) into a Public Service Broadcaster and the establishment of a legal framework for the provision of impartial information to all citizens and the general public on an equal basis. Thus, the creation of a public service national radio and television station marked a significant turning point in Mongolian media history.

Currently, MNB television channels include the Mongolian radio station, the multilingual Voice of Mongolia radio station, the P3 FM radio channel, the Mongolian National Public Television Channel, the MNB-Mongolian News Channel, the MNB Sports Channel, the MNB Family Channel, and the MNB World English Language Channel.
